Professional Learning Communities
I have been fortunate enough to be working within PLC's for my entire teaching career. When I was first hired into Southfield, we spent a day a week discussing assessments and collaborating on lessons. Throughout my tenure in Southfield, my understanding and use of PLC's grew.
In coming to Birmingham, I have seen the growth of PLC's continue to develop in my use and understanding of them. I have found PLC's to be an integral part of teaching and necessity in meeting the needs of all students.
As an Instructional Specialist, my role has changed from a participant into a facilitator for PLC's. We meet within and across grade levels to have conversation and look at data. (example)
