Thompson Middle SchoolI had the privilege to begin my teaching career at Mary E. Thompson Middle School spending two of my five years of teaching in Southfield Public Schools. My first year of at Thompson, I taught 7th grade Social Studies and 8th grade Career and Life Skills. I also returned for my last year in Southfield Public Schools to teach 7th grade Mathematics and Science as well as an 8th grade section of Mathematics. Thompson is an International Baccalaureate School (PYP & MYP Programmes). In my last year at Thompson Middle School, I participated in the IB interview and trainings. The practices at Thompson required all teachers to participate in PLC meetings focusing on DuFour's three focus questions and meeting during common planning times. We conducted common assessments throughout all grade levels and subject areas while completing item analysis of the common assessments and providing rationale of assessment questions.

Leonhard Elementary
Leonhard Elementary is now closed due to Southfield Public School's declining enrollment. While at Leonhard, I taught 4th grade for one year and 5th grade for two years. Leonhard was a K-5 building with approximately 300 students. We were applying as a first year International Baccalaureate PYP school my last year at Leonhard. As a part of the IB committee, I attended an IB orientation and introduction session at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. As a committee, we developed a program of inquiry and started to plan focus lessons for each grade level. It was at Leonhard that I planned and took two years of students
